State-of-the-Art Algorithms for Systems and Control
Advanced Numerical Methods is a Mathematica application
package that expands the functionality of Control System Professional
with an extensive collection of state-of-the-art numerical algorithms.
It seamlessly integrates into the Control System Professional
framework using the same data structures and, when possible, the same
function names.
Advanced Numerical Methods implements reliable and robust
numerical algorithms, including several new methods for Lyapunov,
Sylvester, and Riccati equations, to solve a wide class of control
problems and linear algebra problems with applications in control
theory. For each problem, Advanced Numerical Methods provides
several computationally viable numerical algorithms that enable the
user to choose the most appropriate tool for a given task.
Alternatively, it can often automatically select a suitable algorithm
based on the size of the problem, the precision of the data, and the
precision needed for a particular application.
Combined with Mathematica's extensive graphical capabilities
and automatic arbitrary-precision control, Advanced Numerical
Methods provides a superior environment for solving industrial and
research control problems, thereby bringing technology to control
industries and education.

"The function LQRegulatorGains calls the Riccati equation solver and
passes the user-supplied option... [GeneralizedSchurDecomposition,
MatrixSign, etc.] At the same time, the user also has access to the
underlying solvers and can find the optimal gains in a step-by-step
fashion."
