Mathematica for Computational Biology Modeling

I'm putting together a course to use Mathematica for modeling of biological systems. Specifically using differential equations to describe relationships between biological entities in multiple scales (intra-cellular, extra-cellular, ecological).
Are there any statistics on Mathematica use in this area that I could quote? I'm trying to build a case for using Mathematica over other languages (Matlab, R, C, Java). Does anyone know of articles that illustrate this cross-language comparison?

Hi Armand,

Mathematica is a great tool for computational biology and bioinformatics. In fact MIT OpenCourseWare includes a course on "Genomics and Computational Biology" that utilizes Mathematica. ... fall-2002/
