1999 Mathematica Developer Conference Date Set
Mark your calendars! The 1999
Mathematica Developer
Conference is scheduled to take place October 21-23 at
Wolfram Research headquarters in Champaign, Illinois.
As a past conference attendee said, "There's no better
way to get the inside scoop on all the things you can
do with Mathematica."
Mathematica-Related Products
Dynamic
Visualizer
Visualize data with real-time, three-dimensional
graphics with Dynamic Visualizer. Controlled
interactively or with standard Mathematica commands,
Dynamic Visualizer uses revolutionary new algorithms in
software rendering to scale, rotate, and texturize
graphics. Render wire frames and flat and smooth
Gouraud-shaded polygons, and adjust ambient lighting,
reflectivity, and transparency of an object in real
time.
Derivatives
Expert
Designed for financial engineers, Derivatives Expert
implements state-of-the-art models for exchange and
over-the-counter traded securities and derivatives.
With extensive online documentation, Derivatives Expert
includes over 360 functions and options for financial
analysis as well as detailed programming examples to
get users up and running quickly.
MathCode
C++
Generate optimized C++ code directly from Mathematica
programs. MathCode C++ generates high-performance
numeric C++ code, then allows you to link functions
seamlessly into Mathematica or create stand-alone
executables suitable for embedded and other
applications.

R&D News
Wolfram Research Announces Parallel Computing Support
Now undergoing beta testing, the Parallel Computing
Toolkit will bring parallel computing support to
Mathematica. Running on any computer network, the
toolkit makes it easy for anyone to make use of the
latest ideas in parallel programming, applying them to
graphics, simulation, searching, optimization, and more.

Standard Add-on Packages
Go to the Add-ons | Standard Packages section in the
Mathematica Help Browser to find out about one thousand
additional functions supplied with every full copy of
Mathematica. Topics include graphics, numerics,
discrete math, data tables, and much more.
Try the Table Function
Table[x!, {x, 10}]
Table[x!, {x, 1, 20, 2}]
Table[1/(x+y), {x, 4}, {y, 4}]
Table[1/(x+y), {x, 4}, {y, 4}] // TableForm
Table[1/(x+y), {x, 6}, {y, x}] // TableForm
Make Indices for Notebooks
Under the Find menu, use Make Index... to create
indices of your notebooks for online or printed use.
You can index by page or section and set up hyperlinks
for online use.
Mathematica Miscellanea
Thousands of people have visited the Publicon
web site to request the beta version of Wolfram Research's
upcoming revolutionary publishing system.
A collection of
Mathematica-generated images is being assembled into a
book series called Graphica. Check out November's issue
of WIRED magazine to see a sample, and visit the
Graphica web site.
The
Mathematica Book is now available on the web. Access
its thousands of "pages" of information in the
Mathematica Documentation
Center.
