WIRED Readers Vote Stephen Wolfram "Renegade of the Year"
January 14, 2003--WIRED magazine readers voted Wolfram Research CEO
Stephen
Wolfram as its "Renegade of the Year" as part of the magazine's fourth
annual WIRED Rave Awards. The award was announced at a gala
hosted by
WIRED magazine in San Francisco on Monday evening. Wolfram also
received the
2003 Rave Award in the Author category for A New Kind
of Science, his best-selling book that was released last May.
The coveted Rave Awards honor the world's top innovators and visionaries:
"The People Changing Your Mind" in the fields of software, science,
politics, television, music, architecture, industrial design, film, game
design, and business.
Nominees are selected by the WIRED Brain Trust, an esteemed
international
jury of visionaries. Winners in most categories are selected by the
WIRED
editors, except for the top award, Renegade of the Year, which is
determined by popular vote of WIRED online readers.
