Teaching Experience
John Browne began teaching engineering and engineering mathematics at the University of Rochester in New York and The University of Melbourne in Australia. From 1987 to 2001, he was an associate professor in charge of engineering design in the School of Engineering and Science at Swinburne University of Technology.
Mathematica Experience
Browne has been teaching undergraduates, postgraduates, and faculty to use and apply Mathematica in their courses and research since 1991. He has developed and taught courses in technology modeling, probabilistic design, and programming to undergraduate mechanical engineering students over a number of years. Browne uses Mathematica exclusively for lectures, course notes, assignments, and problem solving. He is currently finishing the book Grassmann Algebra: Exploring Applications of Extended Vector Algebra with Mathematica. This book uses Mathematica throughout to model the algebraic system, develop and typeset the results, and create the final page layout. The Mathematica software used enables readers to develop their own results in minimal time.
Language Fluency
English, some French
Interests
Mathematica programming, mathematical modeling, modeling of engineering systems, probabilistic design of engineering systems, applications of Grassmann algebra
