Teaching Experience
Enrique Garcia Moreno Esteva has been teaching mathematics
and developing computer-based
educational materials since 1987, when he joined the IBM Scientific
Center in Mexico. He has taught mathematics in high schools, colleges,
engineering schools, and graduate schools throughout Mexico and
the U.S. Since joining the Center for Educational Technologies (CET)
at Wheeling Jesuit University in 2002, he has been responsible for the
International Space Station (ISS) project funded by NASA. The
focus of his work is the development and redesign of web-based
educational materials on scientific and engineering issues related to
the ISS. One of his goals for 2004 is to spearhead a new effort aimed
at developing curricular materials for the teaching of mathematics in
middle schools, high schools, and teacher-preparation programs.
Mathematica Experience
Esteva started using Mathematica in the classroom when he joined the
Mathematics Department at Wheeling Jesuit University. He now uses it
extensively for research as well and is in the process of developing
a state-of-the-art package for the study of graph theory and its
applications in optimization, operations management, and
bioinformatics. He is also developing a package for verifying proofs
in graph theory and, more generally, for verifying the correctness of
computer programs for which an exact specification is available.
