Program Details
The Chicago
Mathematica Day is a unique opportunity for professionals
and educators in any field to learn more about the latest advances in
technical computing with
Mathematica.
A variety of sessions, including hands-on training from Wolfram
Education Group, will introduce attendees to
Mathematica's core
capabilities. The event will also feature talks from our users and a
special preview of upcoming
Mathematica technologies.
MathWorld creator Eric Weisstein will be on hand to provide a rare
inside look at the new era of
Mathematica and discuss how recent
innovations for programming, numerics, symbolics, and interactive
graphics can be applied to a wide variety of fields.
There is no cost to attend any of the sessions, but registration is

About the Speakers
Dr. Eric Weisstein is the author of
MathWorld, the award-winning and
most widely accessed online mathematics encyclopedia. He has been with
Wolfram Research's Scientific Information department since 1999. Dr.
Weisstein has a deep understanding of
Mathematica and its applications
throughout business, education, and the sciences, and is a close advisor
to the algorithm and interface development teams at Wolfram Research.
Dr. Michael Kelly is an Associate Professor in Finance at the Stuart
Graduate School of Business, Illinois Institute of Technology. He
teaches Masters and Ph.D. courses in Financial Modeling and
Computational Finance. Both sequences of courses are heavily dependent
upon the use of
Mathematica. He is also an
accredited
Mathematica software
consultant
and trainer.
Andreas Lauschke has a master's degree in financial mathematics from
the Technical University of Berlin. He first used
Mathematica
in 1993 for his master's thesis about cost optimization and has been
using it ever since. He is very well-versed with
the
Mathematica platform and has developed numerous
applications in
Mathematica that leverage with Java and
.NET. He is a former Wolfram Research employee and now works for DRW
Holdings, Inc., in Chicago in the position of Quantitative Researcher.
