Mathematica is used in thousands of academic institutions, research labs, and companies around the world, deployed both as an interactive calculation tool and a programming language. Many hundreds of books, thousands of journal articles, several active journals, and numerous electronic books and courseware titles have been written and published using Mathematica, in fields as diverse as engineering, science, finance, and education. For details, see the Mathematica website.

Theodore Gray is co-founder of Wolfram Research and chief architect of the Mathematica user interface. An accomplished author in his own right with a background in theoretical chemistry, Gray is the author of several books on Mathematica and creator of periodictable.com, and writes a monthly column about chemical elements for Popular Science magazine.

André Kuzniarek is the document technology manager at Wolfram Research, where he came in 1990 after years of experience in the publishing and graphic design industries. His Wolfram career has involved all aspects of document creation and management, including graphic and type design, print production, stylesheet programming, and application development. His team migrated the entire Mathematica documentation from its traditional print production to an electronic environment for flexible deployment with Mathematica 6. Kuzniarek also leads the development team that provides a comprehensive and user-friendly technical authoring environment in Wolfram's stand-alone Publicon and as a component of Mathematica itself.

Wolfram Research is the world's leading developer of computational software for science and technology, with a strong commitment to technological awareness and education. Led by Mathematica, its flagship product, the company's software is relied on today by several million enthusiastic users around the world and has been the recipient of many industry awards. Wolfram Research also contributes to education-related programs and scientific research, in addition to sponsoring the popular MathWorld website, The Wolfram Demonstrations Project, and a growing family of public mathematical resources made possible by Mathematica technology. A privately held company, Wolfram Research was founded in 1987 by Stephen Wolfram and is headquartered in the United States, with offices in Europe and Japan.
