Background
Paul Abbott,
who has used Mathematica since 1988,
provides Mathematica training courses to help users learn
about the product quickly. He is also a contributing editor to
The
Mathematica Journal and has lectured
on Mathematica in the U.S., Japan, and India and given several
courses at Australian universities. These courses have been attended
by professionals and students from a wide range of backgrounds,
including people from government departments and financial institutions, scientists,
engineers, academics, and medical researchers.
Abbott received his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from The University
of Western Australia in 1987. He worked for Wolfram Research for
three years from 1989 to 1991 as a member of the Applications
department. In 1991 he
founded Analytica International Pty Ltd, a company based in Perth,
Western Australia, that sells and supports a range of technical
software packages focusing on Mathematica.
In 1992 Abbott gained an appointment as a computational physicist in
the Department of Physics at The University of Western Australia and
was promoted to senior lecturer in 2001. He does research in the
areas of wavelets and few-body atomic physics and has general
interests in problems in computational and mathematical physics.
Abbott and Chikara Miyaji are coauthors of the book
MathLink:
Network Programming with Mathematica.
Wolfram Education Group Certification
Abbott is a Wolfram Education Group certified instructor. He is
certified to teach "M100: An Introduction to Mathematica", "M101: A First Course in Mathematica", and "M221: Introduction to Programming in
Mathematica".
