Background
In collaboration with QT software GmbH in Munich, Germany, Markus van
Almsick has
provided Mathematica training courses since 1994. He conveys his
13 years of Mathematica experience in concise and systematic
introductory courses that provide users with a solid-core knowledge of
the Mathematica software package. The introductory courses, given
in English or German, help users understand the principles and
mechanisms of the Mathematica computer language and greatly
facilitate further learning. Mr. van Almsick and QT software also offer
specialized seminars and workshops. In-house
seminars are available upon request. Satisfied customers of in-house
seminars, among others, are: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Deutsche Bundesbank,
and Thompson Electronics.
In 1990 Markus van Almsick received a
diploma in physics at the Technical University of Munich. From 1988
until 1992 Mr. van Almsick was employed by the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign as a research and teaching associate. He taught
undergraduate chemistry as well as graduate courses in advanced quantum
mechanics for which he developed Mathematica course
material. His research interest lies in quantum logic and quantization
procedures of
space-time. Since 1990 he has been working as a freelance applications
consultant
for Wolfram Research, Inc., USA, and Wolfram Research Europe Ltd.,
United Kingdom, promoting
Mathematica at universities and research institutions in the U.S.,
Europe, and Israel, as well as developing Mathematica packages
and application material.
Mr. van Almsick was employed by the Max-Planck-Insitut für
Biophysik in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where he worked on
nonequilibrium thermodynamics, until the theoretical department
closed in 1997. Since then he has worked as a full-time
Mathematica consultant on a wide
variety of assignments--e.g., designing the geometry of slides
for playgrounds, modeling human interaction via graph theory
("social networks"), lossless image compression, vibration control in
electric engines, and the isomer enumeration of libraries containing
chemical diamutamers.
Consulting Information
Mr. van Almsick has used Mathematica since 1987 (the alpha version back then)
and has been a Mathematica
consultant for Wolfram Research since 1990 and in collaboration with QT software
GmbH since 1994.
