Background
David Bailey received his PhD in theoretical chemistry in
1974 from the University of Cambridge in the U.K. After a period in industry,
he joined Salford University to develop a Fortran 77 compiler for
the ICL 1900 range of machines. David Bailey was Head of Software
Development at Salford Software Ltd
for many years and is now an independent consultant.
