GIS Data

I talked to a faculty member about Microsoft's Terraservice lately as a source for GIS data. Does anyone have experience with this?

Mathematica can easily import the images from the web sites directly, but it would be interesting to see if anyone has written a program to add in graphics (like dots for cities), or if anyone has interest in this.
