CDF Deployment

Postby Sean_Corcoran » Thu Jan 19, 2012 2:44 pm

Does anyone know how to turn off editing in cdf files so they can not be changed by students? I know we can set the Notebook properties in the Options Inspector but this can just be changed by the student. I notice that in the cdf toolkit pack there is an example file on Mandlebrot and Julia Sets. Somehow this file is set so that it can not be edited. The option inspector shows that all editing options are set to True i.e. we should be able to edit but it is "locked" in some other way?? so it appears that this file is maybe "deployed" in a way that prevents editing? This is exactly what I'd like to do.

Have you tried using CDFDeploy?

It looks like I have version 8.01 so maybe that is why I don't have access to the CDFDeploy function? It doesn't show up in my documentation but the description on the wolfram site seems like this might be the answer. I see that Virginia Tech has the 8.04 version available now. I'll download the new version and give that a try. I gues there should also be a new menu item called Deploy under the File menu as well which I do not currently have available. Thank you.

Sean,

Yep, both CDFDeploy and the File > Deploy wizard were added in Mathematica 8.0.4...so give that a try once you get your machine(s) updated.

Here's a listing of other features added in Mathematica 8.0.4, if you're interested:
