Software Reviews

A review of Global Optimization 4.2 was published in 2003: Cogan, B. "How to Get the Best out of Optimization Software," Scientific Computing World 71 (2003) 67-68. His testing of the package against standard and custom problems showed Global Optimization works successfully. He concludes by stating:

"The algorithms are fast and robust and they can solve very tough problems very quickly."

A review of Global Optimization 3.0 was published in 2000: Cogan, B. "How Scientists Can Optimize Their Work," Scientific Computing World 55 (2000) 29-32. The review was quite favorable, with passages such as the following:

"Anyone who wants to use Mathematica to solve optimization problems (global or otherwise) should get hold of this package."

"This manual is, in my opinion, a model of how such documentation should be written."

Customer Comments

The following verbatim comments have been received from customers:

"This is truly a superb numerical software product."

"This is really an impressive program, and I look forward to learning to use it well. Excellent work!"

"Your product definitely serves a needed niche; it satisfied all of my needs and then some. Excellent job!"

"I want to tell you that I'm very impressed with the package."

"I just wanted to thank you for developing Global Optimization. The software uniquely extends the capabilities of Mathematica in an area that is very important to so many of us. Thanks!"

"It is a very nifty piece of code--it selects more efficient portfolios in an eighth of the time that my previous optimizer took. I will be singing Global Optimization's praises to anybody who will listen."
