Applied Expertise in Wolfram Technology for AI
Wolfram U offers a growing suite of resources for learning how to integrate and complement modern AI systems with the precision of Wolfram Language computation. The Wolfram Technology for AI certification provides an opportunity to demonstrate that you can put this combination to work on a real problem. Earning this Level 2 certification requires submitting an independent project built entirely in a Wolfram Notebook that applies Wolfram LLM functions, computable data and computation tools together in a meaningful, original workflow. Submissions are assessed by the certification team according to a grading rubric covering technical correctness, integration depth, notebook clarity and the quality of the candidate's design judgment.

Level 2 Project
The Wolfram Technology for AI Level 2 certification is designed for developers, researchers and data practitioners who want to demonstrate that they can apply Wolfram LLM integration tools to solve a real, self-directed problem. Projects are built entirely as Wolfram Notebooks and must make meaningful use of one or more Wolfram LLM functions, such as LLMFunction, LLMSynthesize, LLMTool, LLMGraph, ChatObject, SemanticSearch or CreateVectorDatabase, while incorporating at least one element of the broader Wolfram technology stack, such as curated computable data, a Neural Net Repository model or a custom computation exposed as an LLMTool. The project should demonstrate that Wolfram computation and LLM reasoning are stronger together than either is alone.
The following are representative examples of the kind of original, applied work suitable for Level 2 certification. Refer to the grading rubric for specific requirements related to LLM function coverage, integration depth, notebook structure and design documentation.
- Intelligent Research Assistant: a domain-specific Q&A system over a document corpus using semantic search and LLM synthesis, enriched with live Wolfram|Alpha data.
- Computation-Augmented Chatbot: a multi-turn conversational agent equipped with custom LLMTool definitions that call Wolfram Language functions to deliver precise, verifiable answers.
- Automated Data Analysis Pipeline: a workflow that ingests raw data, applies LLM-based classification and summarization and generates a narrative report with Wolfram visualizations.
- LLM Orchestration Graph: a multi-step AI workflow using LLMGraph with branching logic and Wolfram computation embedded at key decision points.
- Semantic Knowledge Explorer: a notebook interface for a knowledge domain using vector search and LLM synthesis, enriched with curated Wolfram data and original visualizations.
Recommended Level 2 Certification Process
- Familiarize yourself with Wolfram Language LLM-related functions. The documentation is a good place to start.
- Explore Wolfram U resources to build your understanding of AI topics. The microcredential Foundations of AI with Wolfram Language provides related training and self-study resources. The course Wolfram Language and LLMs and the Daily Study Group recordings also give helpful instruction.
- Identify the problem you would like to solve using LLMs and Wolfram Language computation.
- Consult the grading rubric to ensure your project meets certification standards.
- Pay the $395 certification fee and submit your project notebook detailing your code and its application to your question(s) of choice. (Education customers pay $195; students pay $95.) The certification fee is included with the purchase of the Foundations of AI microcredential.
Submitting Your Project
Once your project notebook is complete, pay the certification fee and follow instructions to upload your file(s). Those who have purchased the Foundations of AI microcredential can upload their project from the Microcredential Overview page with no certification fee required. All projects are scored according to the grading rubric. A project score of 75 or greater will earn Wolfram Certified Level 2 in Wolfram Technology for AI. You will be notified about your certification status within three weeks of your submission. Successful applicants will receive a certificate suitable for printing and sharing, and every applicant receives project feedback that includes an explanation of their score. Applicants who receive scores under 75 may work to improve their projects and can apply again for Level 2 certification by submitting revised projects with the certification fee or with Wolfram approval.
