Overview

Mathematica is an essential part of Daniel Warren's position as director of research for Knowles Electronics, one of the only companies in the world that designs microphones and speakers for hearing aids.

Warren uses Mathematica to develop and test the new technologies that keep the company's products at the industry' s forefront. When his team struggled with a measurement standard in its design, Warren turned to Mathematica and found an instant solution. He says, "What Mathematica allowed me to do was focus on each individual part of the problem, and then I throw it all to Mathematica and let it solve everything as a big system for me."

When Warren explains to customers the technologies his team develops, he uses Mathematica's report-building capabilities along with Wolfram Demonstrations. According to Warren, "It gives us a platform, so I can talk about the things I understand, they can talk in terms of things they understand, and the Mathematica notebook gives us a bridge between the two."
