Features: Project-Based Approach

Wolfram Workbench lets you group files of code and other Mathematica resources into a single component called a project. Many different types of files are supported, including Mathematica code, Mathematica notebooks, Java source and classes for J/Link, database specifications for DatabaseLink, and GUI widgets for GUIKit.

This view of a project's contents is very much like a file system, and from here you can close or open the folders to show their contents. You can also add and then work with any type of file that might be necessary for your work.

More Details

There are many tools in Workbench for working with the resources in your projects. For example, you can search through a project to find the location of some text. In addition, Workbench analyzes code in your projects and makes your definitions available for features such as command completion. If you have any HTML files in your projects, you can also open and view them directly within the Workbench environment or in any external web browser.

Wolfram Workbench provides a number of wizards for creating new projects. These are a very convenient way to get started with the technology. Some of the available new-project wizards are shown below.

Another useful feature is that you can place markers in your source files for tasks that need to be completed. These are summarized in a Tasks window that lets you efficiently navigate to any particular issue.
