Do you have to manually write every question?

Algorithmic problem generation can create an almost infinite number of unique questions from a single template. Together with Wolfram's question bank management tools, you can quickly specify a new quiz that is different for every pupil in the class. Unlike tools that try to achieve this by simply choosing questions from a pool, Wolfram's computational understanding of the subjects can generate entirely new questions whilst ensuring that they they are meaningful and solvable.

The other reason why multiple-choice questions dominate digital assessment is that knowing if a student answer and the expected answer are the same (or close enough) is difficult. Wolfram technology can solve that problem for you. As well as its domain-specific synonym knowledge, Wolfram technology understands relationships and related computations across many domains.

Some examples of how Wolfram intelligence enables higher fidelity assessments:

  • In chemistry, as well as knowing seven synonyms for benzene, it knows that it's not an alkane but is an aromatic (and is the same as one of the 142 isomers of "C6H6").
  • In history, it knows that borders of countries and empires are different on different dates.
  • In biology, it doesn't just know that the knee bone is connected to the thigh bone; it knows the connectivity of every part of the human body and what each part looks like!
  • In mathematics, it can determine if an answer is the same as or close enough to the expected answer, even when the answer can be expressed in a large number of ways. For example, 1 + 2x + x2 could also be expressed as x2 + 2x + 1, 2x + x2 + 1, x2 + 2x + 1 or (x+1)2 or in many other ways.
