What is Wolfram AI Assistant?
Wolfram AI Assistant uses an LLM to turn conversational input into precise computational language that can be executed to access the full power of Wolfram Language. Wolfram AI Assistant is enabled with an AI Access Basic subscription, which is included with an active service subscription for Version 15 of Wolfram|One and Mathematica.
Who is Wolfram AI Assistant for?
It is for anyone who wants to do computational work with Wolfram Language at any level. It provides an immediate on-ramp for novices, as well as allows experts to efficiently access all the capabilities of Wolfram Language.
Is AI Assistant required to use Mathematica, Wolfram|One or other Wolfram products?
No. While this feature is on by default in Version 15, users do not have to use it.
What versions of Mathematica and Wolfram|One are compatible with AI Assistant functionality?
Version 14.1 or higher will work with Wolfram AI Assistant, but you will need to install a paclet before Version 15.
What version of Mathematica or Wolfram|One is required to automatically get provisioned an AI Access Basic plan?
You will need Version 15.0 or higher.
What kind of thing can I ask Wolfram AI Assistant?
Ask it anything! It'll try to figure out how to make what you're asking computational, then generate explicit Wolfram Language code to implement it. What you ask can be vague; the assistant will "crispen" it up. You can ask about code, data and results in your notebook; the assistant can analyze these and make suggestions.
What is the technology behind Wolfram AI Assistant?
The AI Assistant is based on Wolfram Language interacting with LLMs enhanced by retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) as well as Wolfram Language–based computation-augmented generation (CAG) tools.
Does Wolfram AI Assistant use remote servers?
Yes. While much of its processing is done locally on your computer, it also makes use of LLMs that operate on Wolfram-controlled remote servers. User data is not shared outside Wolfram.
What information about my interaction with Wolfram AI Assistant does Wolfram retain?
Wolfram only retains the information necessary to make sure the assistant remains functional and useful. We will not use any of your material for marketing purposes or sell it to third parties.
What are the differences for the AI Assistant in the subscription tiers?
With Version 15, an AI Access Basic subscription is included with Wolfram|One and Mathematica and is intended for light usage and getting started. A Pro subscription is for anyone who relies heavily on AI features daily. The Research subscription is meant for the most demanding technical work and the heaviest usage. Which AI models are used for each Wolfram AI Access tier?
We don't tie tiers to specific models. They are built around capability levels, and the model mix changes as we optimize for quality, cost and reliability.
Will Wolfram AI Assistant always give me the same answer?
No. It makes use of LLM technology that includes some "creative randomness." In addition, it can make use of extensive context from your notebook environment and session, which will always be changing.
Will Wolfram AI Assistant always produce correct code?
It depends on what "correct" means. It will normally produce Wolfram Language that can be run, but you must determine whether the code correctly does what you intend. If it doesn't, you can tell the Assistant in more detail what you wanted, and it'll try to fix it.
Do I have to interact with Wolfram AI Assistant in English?
No. It will work with a wide range of languages.
