Virtual Origami
Tetsuo Ida
Focusing on traditional origami but approaching it with mathematical formalism rather than artistic values, we realize origami in a virtual space by using Mathematica's leading-edge symbolic, numeric and graphics computation capabilities. In this talk, we address some classical folds and construct a flying crane—to not only serve as a mathematical and computational description of this famous origami but also show the effectiveness and expandability of our modeling for origami virtualization.
