Introduction to a Unified Model of Cellular Automata
Rodrigo Obando
We introduce a unified model of cellular automata that represents rules by vectors of functions termed genes. We also discuss symmetric indices based on gene symmetry in each rule. We show the concept of canonical rule, which is the minimum rule number that can be realized. Many other functions are introduced, such as genetic, equation, evolution and canonical trees; tests for reflection, reversibility, monotonicity and symmetry; and Langton's lambda and delta parameters.
