An alternative approach to generating high-quality magnetic fields is to optimize multiple sets of simple, discrete coil primitives by spherical harmonic mapping, which are compact and easy to fabricate and repair. This talk covers principles behind optimization, demonstrating how Wolfram Language’s built-in root-finding and visualization capabilities are used to design and analyze precise magnetic fields.
