FAQ

Who is the Wolfram Data Science Boot Camp for?

Anyone who wants to be able to do the latest practical data science—at any stage of their career or education.

What do I need in order to participate?

A computer, a reliable internet connection, a problem or question, a sample dataset and the willingness to explore.

How much programming do I need to know before the boot camp?

None! The extreme automation of the Wolfram Language means it's easy for anyone to do high-level programming. If you have experience with the Wolfram Language, you'll be at an advantage. The first days of the boot camp will be devoted to introducing Wolfram Notebooks and the Wolfram technology stack. If needed, there will be tutors available to provide hands-on help for getting started.

Do I need to know math to do the boot camp?

You'll be able to go through the whole boot camp with high-school-level math (for example, you won't need to know calculus), but if you know more sophisticated math, there will be ample opportunities to make use of it.

What will I come away with from the boot camp?

In addition to hands-on knowledge of multiparadigm data science, you'll have computational essays you have written. All campers will receive a certificate of boot camp completion. Campers who demonstrate applied expertise with a completed project will become Wolfram Certified Level II in the area of multiparadigm data science.

Can I bring proprietary data to the boot camp?

To optimize the peer learning experience, we suggest that data used during the boot camp is something that can be shared with other attendees. However, special arrangements can be made, and our instructors will be operating under our standard corporate NDA.

How does the boot camp compare to the Wolfram Summer School?

The Wolfram Summer School is a selective program for people with good Wolfram Language experience who want to carry out an original project using Wolfram methodologies. The Data Science Boot Camp is intended for a broader audience but concentrates specifically on data science.

How much does it cost?

The two-week program costs $2,000 for industry or commercial attendees; $1,000 for educators, retirees, government and nonprofit employees or hobbyists; and $500 for students. Your boot camp registration includes lecture and exercise notebooks and 30-day access to Wolfram|One. Service plan subscribers receive an additional 15% off.

Where will the boot camp take place?

The boot camp will be held online.

What is the cancellation policy?

A full refund will be given for a cancellation made by July 5.
